Gardening for the Young & Old

With the new fiscal year of 2008/2009 already started as of April 1st 2008, we have already started the preparation for the gardening for the summer. We have had the Youth and Daycare children to come in to start the indoor planting at the Elders building for these plants to be ready for the garden once the threat of frost is over.

Therefore, this year at the community garden we have not only trees, but pretty flowers, fresh fruits, vegetables and herbs; which the children that came in to some planting will be coming in once a week to take care of them. Anyone else interested in coming in to take part in the planting fruits, vegetables and herbs are more than welcome to give Vanessa a call or stop by to see how it works to start or take part in the preparation for the summer planting.

2008-2009 Community Garden Plans

With a successful 2007/2008 proposal to the Vancouver Island Health Authority (VIHA) for this year has been approved and we will be moving forward with further development to the garden area, and gardening. The Snaw-Naw-As community garden offers an escape from the rush of modern living, even if its just maintenance or just sitting in the garden area. As an active and developing garden, new planting and new treasures that change with the season and enhance the stylish design or perennial borders, vegetables and herbs.
